Thank you for...
  • Playing the motherly character of Mary very motherly-ly in the 2005 Easter Drama (was very fun watching you and CK talk to a doll lovingly *hmm hmm*)
  • Faithfully helping out with them lil monsters on Saturdays (and is it surprising that they don't monster <yes, it has become a verb> you?)
  • The sharing for the Young Adults session in its living state (which is well past)
  • Always being in church although your accounting assignments must have been suffocating you
  • Always playing with the children when everyone else was tired of their whining
  • Your dedication and commitment that so encourages us, especially the fact that you'll be serving on Doulos T_T

We didn't get to have a last makan with you last Sunday! But we'll always remember you when we help with the children, and try really hard to be as patient with them as you were. If you really do work in Singapore, we'll be so near each other! =D

ignore the camwhore at the right-hand corner =P

Thank you for...
  • Playing the extremely wordy character of Marcus in the 2005 Easter Drama (you obviously have a good memory!)
  • Playing the funny auctioneer in the Parents' Day skit
  • Songleading and stepping in to mime for DMSJ 2008
  • The sharing for Saturday youth and YA
  • Always being so willing to help out in the church events although 30 minutes is a long time to travel for a 2-hour practice session in church
  • Always making your friends go crazy waiting for you to turn up because you're always still at the church practices
  • Always lightening the atmosphere with your light-hearted words and laughter

You always say, "Don't la say like that!" when I ask, "You're going away forever?!" We will hold you to your promise of coming back to visit! All the best with the job-hunting! And yeah, I still find it weird that you don't have a Chinese name.

pic not clear =(

Thank you for...
  • Playing the well-played character of Jesus in the 2005 Easter Drama (my friend was so touched that she cried when you carried the cross)
  • Your sharing for Saturday youth and YA, and the sermon on Sunday
  • Causing the lively debates in youth when the MMU-ians were still part of it
  • Causing laughter with your extremely cold jokes and bottomless pit displays
  • Faithfully helping out with the Children's Hour every Saturday
  • Fetching the MMU-ians to church
  • Your astounding strategies that made Family Sports Day really interesting

We hope (really, really) your worries about the validity of your degree will be unfounded, and we will continue to pray. It feels like Penang and Melaka are two ends of Malaysia, and seeing you again feels quite impossible (and you went back so fast!). But we can hope! (and you can always come back lalala~)

The three of you will be dearly missed.

***

This Wednesday, Carina and Kevin will be leaving us for good (quite).

We only got to have a makan for Kevin and Shu Lynn (who's not leaving us yet *mua-ha-ha*) on Sunday, because Jun Yi rushed back to Penang already, and Carina couldn't make it.

I still can't believe it's been almost 5 years since they first came.

(Next are Ah Zheng, Frederick and Shu Lynn *sob sob*)

This. Is. MGC!

Some people say we're a quiet a serious bunch. Especially during DMSJs. (dismiss the fact that Shaun ruins our mystique every year with his antics)

Some people say we're an easygoing and laid-back lot.

Some people say we're friendly.

Well, what are we like?

Here's an intro to MGC-ians for those outside, and a bit of fun for those inside.

On Wednesdays, we meet for prayer, and there our greatest skill is uncovered.

Accountant #1

Accountant #2

Accountant #3

We are calculative people count well.

On Fridays, some of us join the adults for Bible study.

er... can only take pictures after Bible study?

On Saturdays, we're serious people.

1 John 4:16-21, on Love.*serious serious*
Ignore the two mystique-ruiners.

Yeah, well, maybe they were quite spot-on when they said we're an easygoing and laid-back lot.

to those who know: you know that *****-ness I was talking about?
this is just a glimpse. =D

On Sundays, we come together to worship the Lord, just like any other group of believers.

Well...

We do some other activities too.

Like the video we were shooting for the RM10000 Big Mac Chant video. Full dress rehearsal:

to the McD management: we are a very small church with a deficit fund.
RM10000 would make a camp possible. Thank you.

Call us dreamers.

We call ourselves hopers.

Wasn't hoping very much on the McD management seeing this post though. And of course not really relying on the RM10000 for the youth camp.

Not kidding about the deficit fund and youth camp, by the way.

ANYWAY.

...We're also oh-so-fashion conscious. Our official Dishwasher Uniforms:

-before-

-after-

We're all athletic people too!

kita main badminton!
-we're so into badminton we even play on the sidelines-

kita main bola sepak!
-flying V formation. *bangga*-

kita main telefon bimbit!
-hey, it's a sport too!-

Oh ya.

A fact most people don't know about us.

We signed up for Fear Factor once.

that's not a rubber lizard

More On Mother's Day 2008!

Youth Do-Something-For-Mum Day, 2.30pm

The youth gathered in church earlier to make something for our respective mums. Many thanks to Qi for the Origami book, to sis and the older girls who planned it, and to the youth for turning up!

First, the origami session.

the guys were excited! ...and maybe a little confused.

origami guru to the rescue. note: sharma's intensity tipped the table.

tada! our standing heart! (it stands, ok)
ignore the cacatness at the bottom of the heart. my bad.

would look like this if don't fold the sides in. *superman!*

Next, Sin yee handles the chocolates.

"very easy wan. like wrapping dumplings."

*stunned silence*

*teacher... we dunno how to wrap dumplings."

it's harder than you think.

siap! plus the message for our mums in the slot behind the heart.

Hodohnyer... I should've snapped somebody else's art. -_-" Yeah, well, at least the hands didn't sweat and completely disintegrate the paper. *thinking positive*

Mother's Day Celebration, 4pm

Yen posted most of everything already, so I'll add a little bit only.

This was taken from my position on the floor. cuz i round 2 adi kalah.
yes, i'm ashamed. but it happens. =P

shaun girl-izing helping the kids with the art.

"Your name's Kaka?"
"Yup."
"Whoa, did you know that's a famous footballer?"
"Uh-huh."

...I am so not good at this.

Thank God for the Klebang footballers who decided to turn up! Kiat Siong couldn't make it at the last minute though. =( Oh ya, the kids are asking for our handphones in a slightly more polite manner already. So don't hesitate to tell them to say "please" and "thank you" when they ask us for our electronic gadgets! Continue to pray for the follow-up efforts ya.

Many thanks to Auntie Yu Ming for coordinating the event, Mrs Chuah for going house to house to summon (so to speak) the Klebang kids to the event and talk to their parents, Uncle Rodney for the singing session, Juliana for leading the games, and to the youth for your fantastic cooperation and effort in handling the kids and making them feel at home.

By the way, Yen made a comment about the good turn-ups at Children's Hour events.

It's because Auntie Yu Ming diligently calls up the parents of the children one by one.

=)

Well, actually, it's a belated blessed birthday.

You both terbang-ed away from Melaka and we haven't seen either of you for a very long time.

That doesn't mean we forgot all about you!

Don't terpesong from the way of the Lord while you're far away from home ya.

*Mother's Day 2008*

mother's day meeting after church.
the person in charge is not a mother. random statement. =P

The youth will be heading to church at 2.30pm for a special meeting. For those who don't know what it is, please sms me or anyone you think knows about the meeting. Remember what I said you're supposed to do last Saturday ya. Again, if you don't, please sms me or anyone you think knows about it.

Youth will be off this Saturday, but we're helping out with the Children's Hour Mother's Day Celebration at 4pm.

The Children's Hour will be starting at 4pm as usual. Except they'll be celebrating Mother's Day. Programme is as follows (without the time and all =P):
  • Singspiration
  • Games
  • Children's Hour kids do a Presentation (probably sing~ and they'll line up according to height and all - cute! =D)
  • Sushi demonstration (mothers) and Handicraft (children)

Auntie Lydia will be conducting a workshop on how to make sushi. Some mothers don't fancy sushi, but do your best to get them to come anyway. Let's do our part and support the children's work ya:
  • If you know any children who are interested to come, their mums will probably tag along if they ask them to.
  • If you know any children who have mums who might be interested to come, you know what to do.
  • If you know any mothers (neighbours, teachers, relatives, random aunties), please take a shot and risk it all (so to speak) for the Lord!

Let's take a day off in an entire year, to specially remember that our mums went through 9 months of pain and suffering, and then a heck of a long amount of years of scolding, disciplining and getting yelled back at, to get you to where you are today. And remember that they never once looked back and wished they'd gotten an abortion to rid themselves of the pain they knew you would bring.

Sure, some mothers aren't as good as other mothers.

Or are they just not what we expect them to be?

Uncle Philip once said:

We have a lot of problems in our relationships, because we fit people into a mould of expectations: 'He's my boyfriend, therefore he should...', 'What kind of a father is he?!', 'As a sister, she should...'.
We forget, that no matter who they are and what roles they play... they are people. People with needs and yearnings. Just like us.

Sometimes it's difficult to communicate with our mothers. Sometimes we think they talk too much. Nag too much. Scold too much. Expect too much.

Have we ever thought that perhaps they do too much? Care too much?

Nobody thinks that of anybody (except themselves). We usually remember the bad stuff.

Your mum may not be the model mum.

But as Nick Vujicic (the guy without limbs) said we shouldn't compare sufferings, I believe we should also not compare mothers.

So everyone, let's take a time-out, and commit to writing out these 3 things:
  • 2 things we appreciate about our mums
  • 2 things we failed them in / times we disappointed them / deliberately hurt them, and
  • 2 things we can commit to doing better in future.

Maybe they've been waiting to say sorry for something they wronged you in, but just couldn't bring themselves to do it.

Maybe they've been waiting for you to say 'thank you' for something they did for you, but you never did.

Maybe they are waiting to see that glimmer in your eyes that tells them you're ready to be the son or daughter they never were, but are afraid the twinkle in your eyes would disappear if they push too hard.

Maybe this year will be the year.

The year to forgive, appreciate, and grow up.

Let's make a commitment this year.

A Regular MGC Captainball Game

Everybody knows our motto:

Kalah Tak Per, Janji Bergaya!

It is assumed that we lose all the time. (especially after a few DMSJ's)

And the rage in MGC now is the success of founding a new measure of lameness (thanks to the Mangkuk Society) - Shaun.

It is now probably also assumed that MGC-ians are a bunch of nuts who shouldn't be taken seriously.

Not true at all.

We can be serious.

so serious hmm hmm

Er. Ignore that.

Anyway.

We are serious people. Although we may lose to a lot of other people in a lot of other things, we put our whole hearts and souls into the things we do. Hmm Hmm.

forgot to capture the ball on camera *sorry*
-tengok lai and ken berdrama-

And here's to proving the "always lose" statement wrong.

goal!

(Nevermind the fact that we were only playing amongst ourselves)

Here's a victory picture!

look at yen

After the goal, we put on our serious faces again.

eh? wassat?

er. adrian still revelling in the previous victory, i guess.

One Fine Saturday When We Had An Actual Game

Game: True or False. Gameleader: Shuen

Here's how the game goes.

There are 2 groups - the True Group, and the False Group. When the Gameleader gives a statement, it can be either True or False. If the answer is False, the False Group will run after the True Group and try to catch the members of the group. But once the True Group passes a certain set borderline on their end, they are "safe". Vice versa for if the answer is True.

For example,

Statement: KFC sells pizza.

Answer: False

So the False Group chases the True Group till the borderline. The True Group members who are caught are then out of the game. It continues until the other team is completely annihilated, or in this case:

public: what's this?

sole survivor of the false team: "bring it!"

...when the winner is fairly obvious.

Having our church's layout means our games get interrupted quite often.

the game stops for that one car

~big hint to michelle *** chen **~

Also, there are times when seemingly normal statements can be controversial:

Statement: Andy is sitting on the car.

answer: true? but wait...

which Andy??

Or like the time Ju said:

Chen Li is pretty.

Result:

Nobody moved.

Or like the time Shuen said:

Shaun is a girl.

Result:

The True Team chased the False Team.

(and the False Team ran)

Hmm.

we actually saved this game for last for DMSJ's afternoon games.
too bad it rained. =(
