Incoming & Outgoing

From Yen's facebook.

For those people who have been quite blur, Yen was working with her uncle and aunt in Johor, and has now returned to work in Malacca. Whee! Welcome back, Yen!

Taken from Daniel's facebook.

Daniel has been back since May and is now undergoing Industrial Training at the Renaissance Hotel after three years or so of Hotel Management in UMS, Sabah. At the moment, he's very happy with Malacca and doesn't plan to leave, so... welcome back, - for the sake of the good ol' days - Beckham!

*edit*

From an article of TheStar here.

Dr. Daniel (also fondly known as Uncle Daniel) and his wife, Chee Chee (no picture of Chee Chee! Sob) attended MGC some years ago. Actually quite long ago la. Haha. They went to the UK, went back to Life Chapel in PJ, and are now back in MGC. Dr. Daniel's an oncologist in Pantai Hospital, and Chee Chee is taking care of their super enthusiastic, wide-eyed four kids full-time. They've been a great blessing ever since they came, and have expressed their desire to remain in Malacca to fulfill their God-given mission, as He reveals it to them little by little everyday. =D

And the latest one...

From Swee Kit's facebook.
Esmond is an FES (Fellowship of Evangelical Students) staff who just moved to Malacca for southern regional work. After much lameness, I'm sure he will eventually lose all reasoning power and finally join MGC. So... almost-welcome, Esmond!

On a sadder note...

From Yik How's album on facebook.

This was actually a year ago, but like I said, for those yang blur blur, Jessica also left Malacca to study English in UM. When the new semester starts in September, she'll be in her second year. Whoop! Jessica's currently attending PJ Gospel Hall. =D

Taken by Chen Li.

Wei Jin left some time ago to work with a China company. He's staying in Geng Yi's office (which is also an apartment unit) and is attending PJ Gospel Hall on Sundays and Chen Li + Geng Yi's CG on Wednesdays.

*edit*

Taken from Qi's facebook.

Oh ya! Qi's now in Melawati because she's studying in the Malaysian Institute of Art. She's attending Melawati Gospel Centre along with Sin Lan & Churn Haw. =D

From Yik How's album on facebook.

Sarah has left for PJ to work as a HR person (Donald Trump! Female version!) in Panasonic. She's staying in Geng Yi's office, along with Wei Jin. She'll also be attending PJ Gospel Hall - that makes, seven of us in PJGH i.e. Geng Yi, Grace, Chen Li, Jessica, Wei Jin, Sarah, and me - world domination! =P

And the latest one...

From Simon's facebook.

Today was Simon's last day with us after three years of his studies in Yayasan College. Please pray for Simon as he seeks his new direction in life, and as he returns to Shah Alam Gospel Centre to serve. Goodbye, Simon! See you when you come back to MGC! (maybe for good =P)

Changing notes again, on a happier note, eight MGC-ians got baptized today!

Teng, Celine, Wei Jin, Sarah, Ken, Joel, Andy, Aaron!

Mangkuk shot!

See the album here, courtesy of Simon. (Thanks!)

Congratulations! Whee!

Pray that they will be more aware of their sonship and daughtership in Christ and keep the promise they made today to follow Christ and to carry their cross daily. =)

Farewellssssss....

Date : 22nd June 2008
Time : 8.11PM
Litening to : My own typing
Where : Room - MC

Well... The thing about farewell is... It sucks regardless whether we're going near or far, oversea or overland. So, the first to go was Ah Zheng. He went off to UK yesterday. Though not very close with him but still, I guess it's pretty sad knowing that he's going for a long long time. Yes, of course we can always pretend that he's off to Kajang to study but it will never be the same.

Ah Zheng... with the rubber band smile

Group photo. Too bad Hwei and the rest balik liao...

So last Saturday, we decided to buat surprise for him "Eng Siang" style. I brought Tanyus along and yes, we were very mad that I think she got clueless a bit. But our surprise tak jadi!!! So I forced him to act surprise again. Got the video but maybe later la. After the surprise for Ah Zheng yang tak jadi, we decided to surprise Sharma instead. So we tipu him that Ah Zheng not yet come back and he rushed to the place la. And when we were in the dark pretending that we were waiting for Ah Zheng.... Suddenly Ah Zheng asked him from the back, "Eh, who are we surprising ar?" Lol.. Quite lawak although expression tak lah impact sangat. Neway, they chose the wrong person la to give speech. Chose me... Aper la... But it was a great night spent with Ah Zheng.

Next... Daniel. Today is his birthday! Happy birthday Mangkuk!!! We gave him a surprise birthday in McD yang also tak jadi~! But it was quite fun taking photos and all. And at the same time, we celebrated.. not celebrate la actually, the farewell of Daniel and Ah Hwei. Daniel going off to Sabah to study. So far lah! And Ah Hwei going UM. Ehehehe.. one more kaki kat KL... Sedih la.... And Ju had a slip of the tongue...

Si Daniel Lim

"The most romantic lovers" Lol... was supposed to say leavers instead. And Sarah dengki. Hahaha... " Eh ler...si kurus nih..." lol..all in all it was quite fun la. but kinda sad after that cos' no one to bully d... Sien liao lorrrrrrrrrrrr~! Sigh.... And yeah, it was the most impromptu thing ever man. Ju and I went tesco. I went to get the cards and Ju went to get sausages for the pizza. The fastest made pizza ever.... =.=

Homemade pizza. Can beat Domino's and Pizza Hut anytime...

Birthday cum farewell cake...

The leavers...

Compensation for the failed surprises. 3 kali siot... Shock looks...

Trademark Mangkuk style!!!

The GIANT mangkuk of MGC~!

There goes our Mangkuk founder Daniel Lim.
There goes our tunggak Tse Hwei.
There goes our Mr. Nice Guy Ah Zheng.

Who's next? Sigh....

we over used it

The 'it' mentioned above is a surprise party or get-together we have for all kinds of occasions. It pretty potong stim already-lah. Every person that we want to surprise sudah perasan we going to surprise them. In other words, the expected it already. Our brain ran out of ideas, that we even use 2 same locations-which is the personal bedroom. tsk. sayang. we forgotten that eng siang's case we used his bed room. How many surprises we did so far:

1. Juliana's birthday
2. Eng Siang's farewell
3. Andy's birthday
4. Ah Zheng's farewell.
5. who's next?

I also want people to throw party for me. How to get a surprise party? tips:
1. go away
2 birthday
3. maybe just for the sake of fun.randomly pick one and surprise them.*irrasional*

i don't think we will pull of any surprises anytime soon. Bored already. nobody chuak habis. Juliana's da best(prison breaking in her house itself), engsiang a smart guy (smart enough to notice the toilet has been flushed), but andy still playing along, ah zheng...all the best in UK lah. The most we will do is makan for now.(i think)

after a not-so-chuaking surprise, the mgc youth demanded one anyway. Sharma was late, so we wanna shock sharma instead. the thing is, he didn't know that zheng's was over, so we hid like we did the 1st time, but the 2nd one, zheng himself said " Who are we surprising?"and chuaking session is officially over. Not the most impressive expression from both of them but wth we carried on to feasting and talking. ended with best wishes from all of the youths and a speech from the man himself.

thanks anyway to those who made it.
andy, daniel, yikhow, saun, shuen, jess, juliana, hwei, tanyus ( chenli's friend from indonesia) sharma, adrian, sarah ,qi and me.

goodbye zheng, see you in ___ years time. all the best and take care!

Thank you for...
  • Playing the motherly character of Mary very motherly-ly in the 2005 Easter Drama (was very fun watching you and CK talk to a doll lovingly *hmm hmm*)
  • Faithfully helping out with them lil monsters on Saturdays (and is it surprising that they don't monster <yes, it has become a verb> you?)
  • The sharing for the Young Adults session in its living state (which is well past)
  • Always being in church although your accounting assignments must have been suffocating you
  • Always playing with the children when everyone else was tired of their whining
  • Your dedication and commitment that so encourages us, especially the fact that you'll be serving on Doulos T_T

We didn't get to have a last makan with you last Sunday! But we'll always remember you when we help with the children, and try really hard to be as patient with them as you were. If you really do work in Singapore, we'll be so near each other! =D

Thank you for...
  • Playing the extremely wordy character of Marcus in the 2005 Easter Drama (you obviously have a good memory!)
  • Playing the funny auctioneer in the Parents' Day skit
  • Songleading and stepping in to mime for DMSJ 2008
  • The sharing for Saturday youth and YA
  • Always being so willing to help out in the church events although 30 minutes is a long time to travel for a 2-hour practice session in church
  • Always making your friends go crazy waiting for you to turn up because you're always still at the church practices
  • Always lightening the atmosphere with your light-hearted words and laughter

You always say, "Don't la say like that!" when I ask, "You're going away forever?!" We will hold you to your promise of coming back to visit! All the best with the job-hunting! And yeah, I still find it weird that you don't have a Chinese name.

Thank you for...
  • Playing the well-played character of Jesus in the 2005 Easter Drama (my friend was so touched that she cried when you carried the cross)
  • Your sharing for Saturday youth and YA, and the sermon on Sunday
  • Causing the lively debates in youth when the MMU-ians were still part of it
  • Causing laughter with your extremely cold jokes and bottomless pit displays
  • Faithfully helping out with the Children's Hour every Saturday
  • Fetching the MMU-ians to church
  • Your astounding strategies that made Family Sports Day really interesting

We hope (really, really) your worries about the validity of your degree will be unfounded, and we will continue to pray. It feels like Penang and Melaka are two ends of Malaysia, and seeing you again feels quite impossible (and you went back so fast!). But we can hope! (and you can always come back lalala~)

The three of you will be dearly missed.

This Wednesday, Carina and Kevin will be leaving us for good (quite).

We only got to have a makan for Kevin and Shu Lynn (who's not leaving us yet *mua-ha-ha*) on Sunday, because Jun Yi rushed back to Penang already, and Carina couldn't make it.

I still can't believe it's been almost 5 years since they first came.

(Next are Ah Zheng, Frederick and Shu Lynn *sob sob*)

Mark has left the building

Today is the last time Mark will be in Malacca and attend MGC for at least in November. All of us will miss you Mark, or at least try to miss you. Anyway, it was always a blessing to have you here and it was pleasant to hear you say you love Malacca (Malacca hebat!). While in Penang, behave yourself and obey your parents ya. All the best while working and don't slack in work like how you usually slack during classes. The badminton club is gonna miss you too. By the way, remember to do quiet time and grow spiritually in God as well and be a shining light for God wherever you go.

Beng Hui's Big Day!

Yeah, well, for all of us who know Beng Hui a.k.a. huihuikoko, his big day was actually the day he and Yoke Woon a.k.a. Alicia registered as husband and wife, so this wedding ceremony is just a ceremony for him ^_^;

But still!!! The rest of us are super excited about it, so much so that I think our excitement covers his non-excitement already.

Anyway, we're gonna arrange the pews tonight after prayer meeting so that the bride and groom can have their majestic walk down the aisle. Fuh~ And then the ladies will go over to church at either 4pm or 6pm to put up the ribbons and other decorations (so exciting!) and to clean up the place (not so exciting). After that, that'll be a rehearsal for the wedding ceremony.

Saturday will be The Day! 10.30am, people! Everyone's welcome, so if you suddenly decide that you want to catch Beng Hui in his tuxedo or something, then scoot over to mgc at 10.30am. The ceremony will officially commence at 10.45am. It'll start earlier if the guests break the datang lambat tradition.

The wedding dinner will be held on the same day but at night. I don't really know what time the dinner is cuz I'm not invited T_T but it should be approximately 7.30 pm or 8.00 pm.

And henceforth, Beng Hui will be an official Uncle-Beng Hui-to-be, and an official Uncle Beng Hui when he gets his first child, as he so specified. Then husband and wife will leave Malacca and Ipoh - respectively - for KL. So all you KL people: Welcome Beng Hui and Alicia with MGC's open arms!

Beng Hui's MGC Story

I think I speak for most of us who know him when I say that Beng Hui actually helped us fit into the youth. Personally, I was a fish out of the water with rotten communication skills and a pretty low self-esteem when I graduated from the Children's Hour. Beng Hui organized many gatherings and group outings for the Form 1's (to McD etc.) to help us find our identity and place among the youth. I also remember that he never turned any of us down (including "young Shaun") whenever we wanted to join him and the older youths for swimming or yam cha or games.

The guys would remember that Beng Hui taught them how to properly catch a techniquet hoop and to throw a hoop that actually found its stick.

One of his more memorable deeds which nobody can afford to forget is him sewing huihuikoko onto all the caps that he gave everyone in the youth club. My family still have ours, though we don't use it anymore.

Currently, he's the regular supplier of Julie's biscuits of MGC, and if you want proof of his big heart, come to our kitchen and take a look at the big tin of biscuits (yummy, trust me) that's kept there against the wall for the little children and us big kids with young hearts. He's also a regular member of the football and basketball ministry in Taman Selasih, Klebang, where we play with the neighbourhood children and youth to sort of bring the church to them, since they can't or don't want to go to church. Beng Hui cheerfully obliged to play basketball, although he also cheerfully added that he wanted to be the one to bring the ball to the court, since that was probably the last time he would ever touch it that day.

Many would know Beng Hui as the modern-day version of Peter Pan - a guy who seemingly never grows up, but not in a totally bad way. To me, Beng Hui is still huihuikoko who wrote to me in neat capital letters while he was away in USM for his studies, when I should've been the one writing to him.

Beng Hui disappeared from MGC's ministry for awhile, for reasons known only to him and God (probably Alicia too), but let's all pray that when he leaves for KL, he would continue to walk this road of recovery in his relationship with God, as he has recently come to do in MGC.

Ain't no need to end with a goodbye or an auld lang syne song cuz he ain't going nowhere we can't get to in a hurry. Haha. Almost sounded like a speech at a funeral eh.

Anyway, here's a cyber toast to Beng Hui and his wife, Alicia!

**Toast**
