18 & 19 april 2009.

18 april 2009 (saturday)

there was only a few of us, so we gathered at one corner of the church and sang to the music from the piano. then the piano tuner tetiba came along and started tuning the piano. ping pong piang. well. almost. so we had to go to the youth room instead. (children were colouring)

uncle kian boon spoke on Authority

then we got squashed in the kenari.

actually only shaun and sin lan look squashed. =.=

19 april 2009 (sunday)

uncle philip continued his series on 1 kings. we're up to chapter 15 now. i personally think it was a thought-provoking chapter - though cross-references to 2 chronicles are needed to give impact to the chapter - filled with spiritual moments, awesome for people under stress. like uni kids. with fyps or finals. memorable verses:

Abijah (judah) ... army of valiant warriors, 400, 000 choice men
Jeroboam (israel) ... 800, 000 (more than the entire population of malacca ok) choice men...

2 chronicles 13:3

...and the children of Judah were strong,
for they leaned on Jehovah,
God of their fathers.

2 chronicles 13:18, young's literal translation, modified

For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro
throughout the whole earth,

to show himself strong
in the behalf of them
whose heart is perfect toward him.

2 chronicles 16:9

new king james version reads "perfect" as loyal. we sometimes wonder why our lives aren't filled with Christian joy and peace, like some other people we envy and can't seem to understand.

it's because it is a loyal heart that catches His eye. one that doesn't turn aside from Him even after sin. God will show Himself strong. for our sakes. let's be perfect toward Him. our God delivers. =)

then we had a dmsj + youth camp meeting.

see so selamba.

our sexytary.

actually we were stalling for time. of all days, kah wei had to choose today to be so extremely busy. he was on the phone for who knows how long, then auntie yu ming called him to take the keyboard, then uncle kian boon pulled him aside to talk. gahness. we actually ran out of things to discuss in the meeting room. and then he finally came. i felt a wave of at-last!-ness sweep across the room.

i had no choice. i had to say it. i scolded the youth for always giving sharma trouble, not registering their names for DMSJ like they were supposed to, and giving the DMSJ organizers such a hard time. "always waiting for someone else to move before you move", i chided. so i played a game to show them how looking at someone else will not achieve anything for either party.

the game goes: everyone looks down. when i say "up!", everyone picks someone to look at. if the person happens to be looking at you, you both scream, and you're out of the game.

eventually, kah wei was the last one left. this is not a good thing. it means nobody wanted to look at him. nyeh nyeh. "kah wei's the winner!"

kah wei: "so what's my prize?"

"your prize is... everyone has something to say to kah wei, right? everyone?"

everyone:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KAH WEI!!!!!!!!!!

yep. it was all a farce. it was more than pretty difficult to keep a straight, solemn face when sharma and melissa and almost all the youth were smiling and stifling their laughter. ish.

then we asked kah wei about his future plans for about the next two years to come. and he said he'd work in malacca. and...

i hope all of us won't just come to church and that's it.
i hope we can grow spiritually together.
if not it'll be like going to high school,
then graduate,
then become alumni. lol.
after all, we're going to see each other again.
in heaven, when we die and all.

sharma: "dude. the next two years la. what in heaven and all??"

but it was pretty profound anyway. aha.

kah wei: "what la, this blue cloth. like taking IC photo."
