A Ray of Hope!

"I've just become a father."

-- Chua Beng Hui via SMS.

Yesh! Yoke Woon gave birth to Chua Ern Song yesterday, and he weighs a healthy 3.37kg! =D

According to Beng Hui,

"Ern" is the Chinese for "grace",
and "Song" is, well, "song".

So Ern Song's name means "song of grace". =D

Waiting for pictures, will upload them when I get them!

"I've just become a father."

I was so moved when I saw those words. T_T

[I was in court watching a trial, so I couldn't do the happy dance.]

Generation Z!

Some of you may have received this text from Chen Li on 2 September 2010:

Dear all, Grace is going for C-section next Wednesday.
Please pray for safe delivery and Grace.
She's anxious and know not what to expect.
Baby Joshua is a lil small for now but all organs are well-developed.
Thank God. :)
So pray for Grace, GY and baby Joshua.

Well, guess what?

Grace safely delivered today!!!! Wheeeee!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS,
YOU HAPPY PARENTS!

And so we have another from Generation Z in MGC. (since Stephen selalu kata we are Generation Y kan?)

Even elephants celebrate new birth, so let's celebrate the birth of Joshua Cheah with much prayer of thanksgiving. =D

And don't forget to call/text the happy parents. =D

(and this is the first time i'm using the tag "birthdays" on somebody's zero-eth birthday. so exciting!)

p/s: see sidebar for a list of known Generation Z members.

*updates*

Here's baby Joshua! Sorry I couldn't upload the one I took so I stole from GY's facebook. Hahaha. But he is soooooooooooooooooo cute. Quite tiny. 2.6kg and he looks like Geng Yi. Haha. And Grace is recuperating in UM hospital. Pray for speedy recovery and she's still in pain la. She will be discharged on Friday if all goes well. :) And since Juliana asked when the baby will come to Malacca, Geng Yi said most probably after 3 months lo. SO be patient ok. If tak sabar then come over and visit. Hahaha. XD

19 April 2009 (continue)

19 April did not just end there. Heh. There's more.

Later at night, there was a suggestion to surprise Kah Wei again at his new house. And it was the longest surprise ever. The wait I mean. Not the actual surprise itself.

Hmmm, weird eh. Kah Wei's surprise always seem to be delayed. (on purpose??)

Anyway, the fella had to go dinnering with his colleagues and chat until about 11 something ok. The youth were waiting since 10pm.

Adrian kept calling Sin Yee who kept calling Kah Wei to find out where he was and to make sure he goes home earlier because we wanted to surprise him before his birthday ended and because we were all going to zzz already.

According to Kah Wei, Sin Yee was super suspicious. She kept talking to him random stuff and when she found out his whereabouts, she hung up. Haha.

SY: So, where are you huh?

KW: Near IPK lo

SY: Oh ok. Don't talk d la. Bye bye.

KW: ???

Anyway, he finally reached home, and he was bit surprise I guess. But I wouldn't know 'cos in the middle of finding his house I sesated. -_-

It was late. Not wanting to disturb the neighbours we whispered the birthday song. I have a video on that but can't upload yet. Ju was literally laughing all the way.

Shaun whispering/singing semangat-ly

Oh, and due to excessive waiting, we forgot the candles and matches. -_-

Adrian: Eh Shuen, where's the candle?

Shuen: Eh, I gave it to you what. You din bring?

Adrian: Huh? Got meh?

Yen: It was on the sofa there la.

Andy: Ya ya. On the sofa.

^_^!!!!!

MGC youth very resourceful. No candle never mind. Use torchlight lor. Adrian even made the torch flicker in an attempt to make it candle-like. Ahha. Kah Wei tried blowing the torch-candle. SO lawak.

Shaun: Here's the candle!

Kah Wei goes ^_^!

He blew and the torch candle went off!

The cake and candle

Here's to Kah Wei the default youth speaker on his special day.

It is a blessing having you around.

So continue staying around ;p

Heh.

Happy birthday!

18 & 19 april 2009.

18 april 2009 (saturday)

there was only a few of us, so we gathered at one corner of the church and sang to the music from the piano. then the piano tuner tetiba came along and started tuning the piano. ping pong piang. well. almost. so we had to go to the youth room instead. (children were colouring)

uncle kian boon spoke on Authority

then we got squashed in the kenari.

actually only shaun and sin lan look squashed. =.=

19 april 2009 (sunday)

uncle philip continued his series on 1 kings. we're up to chapter 15 now. i personally think it was a thought-provoking chapter - though cross-references to 2 chronicles are needed to give impact to the chapter - filled with spiritual moments, awesome for people under stress. like uni kids. with fyps or finals. memorable verses:

Abijah (judah) ... army of valiant warriors, 400, 000 choice men
Jeroboam (israel) ... 800, 000 (more than the entire population of malacca ok) choice men...

2 chronicles 13:3

...and the children of Judah were strong,
for they leaned on Jehovah,
God of their fathers.

2 chronicles 13:18, young's literal translation, modified

For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro
throughout the whole earth,

to show himself strong
in the behalf of them
whose heart is perfect toward him.

2 chronicles 16:9

new king james version reads "perfect" as loyal. we sometimes wonder why our lives aren't filled with Christian joy and peace, like some other people we envy and can't seem to understand.

it's because it is a loyal heart that catches His eye. one that doesn't turn aside from Him even after sin. God will show Himself strong. for our sakes. let's be perfect toward Him. our God delivers. =)

then we had a dmsj + youth camp meeting.

see so selamba.

our sexytary.

actually we were stalling for time. of all days, kah wei had to choose today to be so extremely busy. he was on the phone for who knows how long, then auntie yu ming called him to take the keyboard, then uncle kian boon pulled him aside to talk. gahness. we actually ran out of things to discuss in the meeting room. and then he finally came. i felt a wave of at-last!-ness sweep across the room.

i had no choice. i had to say it. i scolded the youth for always giving sharma trouble, not registering their names for DMSJ like they were supposed to, and giving the DMSJ organizers such a hard time. "always waiting for someone else to move before you move", i chided. so i played a game to show them how looking at someone else will not achieve anything for either party.

the game goes: everyone looks down. when i say "up!", everyone picks someone to look at. if the person happens to be looking at you, you both scream, and you're out of the game.

eventually, kah wei was the last one left. this is not a good thing. it means nobody wanted to look at him. nyeh nyeh. "kah wei's the winner!"

kah wei: "so what's my prize?"

"your prize is... everyone has something to say to kah wei, right? everyone?"

everyone:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KAH WEI!!!!!!!!!!

yep. it was all a farce. it was more than pretty difficult to keep a straight, solemn face when sharma and melissa and almost all the youth were smiling and stifling their laughter. ish.

then we asked kah wei about his future plans for about the next two years to come. and he said he'd work in malacca. and...

i hope all of us won't just come to church and that's it.
i hope we can grow spiritually together.
if not it'll be like going to high school,
then graduate,
then become alumni. lol.
after all, we're going to see each other again.
in heaven, when we die and all.

sharma: "dude. the next two years la. what in heaven and all??"

but it was pretty profound anyway. aha.

kah wei: "what la, this blue cloth. like taking IC photo."

Blessed Birthday to Teng and Li Lian!

Well, actually, it's a belated blessed birthday.

You both terbang-ed away from Melaka and we haven't seen either of you for a very long time.

That doesn't mean we forgot all about you!

Don't terpesong from the way of the Lord while you're far away from home ya.

Belated blessed birthday again!

Happy Belated Birthday to Marcus!

No, we did not forget. I remembered while I was lying sick in bed yesterday, but I had no way to get up and post something about it.

But... HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY nonetheless!

We hope you're having a great time in NZ (being the math whiz and all *wink*). May your ketuaan help you more in gaining wisdom and knowledge for Him.

God bless you!

p/s: very not nice that you're not here anymore for us to play a birthday prank on you =(

More Updates

Well, after considering KD's proposal to put upcoming birthdays, I think this one will do for now. It's the birthdays for our church for this coming month. It might not be perfect so I'm really sorry if I missed out any of your birthdays for this month. Please tell me if I didn't put your birthdays. You might not know some of them so here's a brief introduction of them - El Sen is the tall guy who's studying in Lim Kok Wing, Danny is Chen Li's friend studying in The One Academy(somehow it feels as though there will be some dramatic music every time I mention The One Academy), Ngee Shin is Ah Derk, Ah Zheng and Qi Qi's elder sister. Wei Jin is Li Lian's brother and haven't been seeing him around. Wei Jin, if you're reading, stop playing too much Halo 3 okay? We also have Sin Yee, most of you might know her because she talks a lot...I mean sociable. Mark is an MMU graduate and is started his 'work' yesterday. Anyway, that's all for now, study smart SPM and STPM students!!!

Presenting the Birthday Boys. Birthday Men. Ahem.

Date : 23 June 2007 (Saturday)
Time : Approximately
9.30 p.m.
Venue : Uncle Anthony's House
The Event : Birthday Surprise

The Targets
#1 Daniel Lim Chen Wei, 22 June 1988
#2 Marcus Chee Sau Siong, 24 April 1988

Mel sms-ed everyone and said that the Gomes household was going to have a dinner for the youth.

Once an MGC youth, always an MGC youth. Hence, even the tua-tua belaka (no la) MGC-ians turned up for the makan.

Yen came up with the idea of buying a cake for Daniel and then having a surprise belated birthday celebration for him during the dinner. So we consulted Jessica and Livia, discussed and deliberated until we narrowed down the choices of cakes to Secret Recipe's cheesecake and fruitcake.

Cheesecake selected. Yen headed off to do her part of the job.

The Dinner

Shucks.

When we arrived at Mel's place, Mel said: "I wrote Daniel's name on the cake already."

Dong.

What cake??

Rupanya Mel bought a cake for Daniel already! Chocolate cake!

Yen rightly remarked: "Itulah, everything secret secret until become liddat." =.= Anyway, play by ear la~

We had some sandwiches and challenging (?) burgers, after which we played Sin Yee's Icecube game (Ah Zheng went to Ayer Keroh to fetch Qi).

Back in the house, Mel announced that we would cut the cake after the game. Sis and I were like, oh noes! What about the surprise?

Good thing Yen said we could bring out the chocolate cake first, and leave the marble cheesecake that Yen had bought for later. So we did just that. And though we tried super hard to distract the crowd with the suggestion of playing the Mafia game, Marcus' repeated calls for the cake couldn't go unheeded. So we brought out the choc cake and sang a super keng birthday song for Daniel in all sorts of versions and tunes, if I may so remark. Sis thought that since it was all already so climatic, the surprise wouldn't be much of a climax anymore. However, we really really really wanted to have a surprise, so... we devised a scheme!

We Have A Plan.

Sis would host the Mafia game, and while everyone closed their eyes after the calls for FBI etc., Yen and I would hurry to the kitchen and bring out the cake and set it in front of Marcus and Daniel.

We Have A Problem... Make That Three Problems.

  1. For us to bring out the cake in such a short span of time was quite a ridiculous idea since neither one of us are real athletes (it would be peculiar to even call us fake athletes cuz we're mainly just lousy at sports. Me anyway. In that case, I'd slow Yen down! aargh!)
  2. For the plan to be carried out, Marcus and Daniel would have to be sitting together. At the moment, Marcus seemed like he was gonna sit on the floor and Jeremy was sitting beside Daniel on the two-space sofa.
  3. If either Marcus or Daniel died or was voted out during the game then habislah The Plan.

We Adapt.

Knowing Shaun's super powerful and efficient methods of persuasion, we employed him to get Marcus and Daniel to sit together. Scarcely a minute later, he'd seated them side by side on the two-space sofa. Dunno how he kicked Jeremy off the sofa la.

We Play.

And so the game began.

I got the FBI slip of paper! So I thought that if Yen was a Mafia, El Sen and I could kill her off easily by arresting her. If she wasn't, well, we could vote her off then muahaha~

As it happened, Yen wasn't a Mafia member. Sharma was voted off instead (he was the spy~ awwww). Nevermind. 2nd round.

Yen turned everyone on me by yelling that I was the Mafia.

Of course, that was after my dear comrade, El Sen, turned against me himself. Yes, after. =.= It was a good thing he did anyway. But this part quite kan chiong. 5 of the girls had already voted me off (tried my best to look guilty and suspicious). I was like sweating as I watched the guys vote for Marcus one by one. Oh noes!

I thought that I'd vote myself off if any of the other girls voted for someone else. Everything happened so fast that I didn't realize that I only Yen and I were left.

Yen immediately called out my name as the Mafia. And so... I died. Awwww.

Easy peasy now. When everyone had closed their eyes for the 3rd round, Yen and I sneaked off to the kitchen (Yen faked death, I guess). Sin Yee was already there with the cake. Ceh. Kan chiong dunno for wat. So she brought the cake out with the candles and all and whispered an amazingly loud whisper which was equally amazingly unheard by the crowd of youths on the floor and sofas: "Fannnnnnnn.... faaaannnnnnn".

Mel caught the hint and turned off the fan and light. We were all snickering and chuckling as Sin Yee set the cake in front of the birthday boys. Sharma had to go and set off another round of giggles with his: "Ooooo panas~ panas~" when the cake neared his side of the sofa (beside Daniel). The dead people and the schemers were laughing their heads off already, what with Marcus looking so serious about the game (eyes perfectly shut). Daniel was smiling a little bit so I think he knew already.

Sis was doing everything simply already, so everyone else adi know la. She was like "FBI open eyes, ok close eyes; Mafia open eyes, pick one person to kill, ok close eyes" before any of them could pick anyone to arrest, kill, heal or spy on. When they opened their eyes... that was the killer part la. Haha.

Marcus was like O_o !!!!!!! Daniel was like o_O !!!!!!

Super besar!

Marcus' reaction was probably due to the fact that his birthday was in April la.

So anyway, we sang the birthday song all over again for the both of them.

A very successful surprise indeed!

I love surprises muahaha~
