We had a CG farewell for Dr Daniel & family last Friday because he'll be leaving us to focus on the Young Adults CG. (so you young people better come for CG)

We'll be starting in September because Uncle Anthony's awfully busy (always is, during festive seasons), so siapa-siapa yang ingin join, sila maklumkan kami so that we can make sure everyone goes home with a big stomach.

Hop on over! =D

Note also that the other CG is the, um, rojak CG like ours (in terms of geographical areas).

Updates and Prayers

Alright! Today is Melissa's birthday! So if you're reading this, remember to wish her ya? The youths planned a surprise for her during badminton..... and it worked! Most successful yet, in terms of touching the heart! You cried, but Mel, your tears touched us! With Hwei's absence, no one thought of taking pictures of the birthday girl and the cake, but luckily I remembered so pictures will be up here as soon as I bluetooth to a computer.

Now to updates! Melissa should be working most probably next week in EY (Ring any bell, shuen?) not in accounts though, but admin. Wei Jin, on the other hand, is still looking for a job. The job interview he went for was not successful as they have not called him even after the deadline so pray that as he continues to search for a job, God will bless him and give him the right one. Pray that he won't be lazy in reading Bible also :P .Moving on, Chen Li will be going back to TOA along with her brother tomorrow, so pray for safe journey. Juliana should be back at KL already, but you left so fast none of us had a chance to say bye. Next time any MGC-ians going back make grand farewell okie? *update*Juliana has her History paper on English, so pray that she won't be bored to death but study.

Pray for Chen Li's sister's friend, Wan Yi. She is having third stage cancer now, so pray that God's healing hands would be on her and others who need it as well. Besides that, pray for Lai and Yen Mei, one of the MMU survivors left. They are very busy doing their FYP and assignments, so pray that God will give them the discipline and wisdom to do their work. Lai and Yen, you can do it! Celine got UPSR tomorrow!!! Pray that she won't panic and she may be able to do well! For small fry, I got Moral folio to do so pray that I will be able to stick my butt to the chair and do it.

Not forgetting those outside Malacca, it would be too much to name all of you, but we still remember you guys! Marcus, Jeremy and Unc Ivan, we know you're reading this, so flood the chatbox with messages ya? I heard from Aunty Kim that Marcus is having holiday for one week and then exam the next, so pray that he may study and honour God with his results. As for Jeremy and Unc Ivan, they are still good, except that Jeremy starts calling everyone bro already. Don't worry, we taking care of Livia very well. From the 2 subjects given, she scored 2 A's for PMR trials already, good start! Continue to study ya! For Daniel, he seems pretty stressed over Probability and assignments, so pray that he may persevere in Sabah! *update* Tse Hwei like quite free wan, can set up friends for Flirty at 10.30 some more, but then actually busy, until msn status also put busy. Got exam and assignments so she's not that busy anymore. Pray for Shuen too, who is in final year, so very very busy. I think Gary is in final year too. Ah Zheng, didn't get much updates about you, but I overheard a bit from Unc Kian Boon that your boss or someone likes you and you're doing well, so continue to do well!

We going to have Ice Cream Day (not Night) on 13 September. It is by the kids, so maybe that's why is day, not night. The SU team will be helping out so pray for good number and the patience and ability to handle the monst... I mean kids. SU having a meeting at Wesley Church in the morning so all MGC-ians can come!

Oh yeah, this is one important update: The youth is going to have a Youth Camp! Most probably it will be in December 6-8 where most of the universitians will come back. The venue is at Lendu, the El Sanctuary place. There will be non-Christians as well, so I think the topics will be more to the evangelical side, not so sure. We have not set a theme yet, so youths who are reading this, please think of a theme and a verse most probably that goes with the theme, and tell us ya? Also, we do not have a speaker yet, so pray that God will provide one for us. That's about all. Continue to grow in God and do your quiet time (hehe) regularly ya!

Aaron's currently very into photography. He even has a photoblog (2 entries only la but still!). He was pick-pocketed on the way back from the gathering via KTM. He lost his phone. =( Go check out his blog ya.

Contrary to popular belief... Gary has not graduated. Ah ha. He's decided to do his Masters in Cyberjaya instead.

eh ownself take or i took wan?
looks like camwhoring. =P

Geng Yi still hasn't found a job, actually. He's freelancing at the moment.

still the same,
but i guess you guys knew d la.

kereta still quite bergaya

There's a picture of Grace on Aaron's blog. It's watermarked so I shall not attempt to steal. Heh. Geng Yi and Grace have taken their wedding photos. Can't wait for the wedding!

Juliana and I are staying in PJGH and I think we're getting along alright with the church peeps. I think la. 3rd week only. =P

always beside food =P

Picture of Li Lian also in Aaron's blog, in the same link as the one with Grace. Li Lian's still at Inti College in Nilai, doing Marketing. Her hair is still very nice. T_T

Sherene is still doing her ACCA in Inti College in Nilai . Read her blog to be updated ya. ACCA is a really tough course, so she needs our prayers and support. She's currently attending Nilai GC, where the youth don't turn up for youth because they help out in Sunday School. So she goes for the Bible Study instead. Well done!

eh?

sorry, stephen. focus is on sherene. =P

Sin Lan is graduating from Food Science and Nutrition next year. Still in Cheras, and still with we-know-who. =D Sin Lan's having her finals this week. So pray for her.

Sin Yee is... eh you guys should know better la! Anyway, she came up to get formal clothes from Sin Lan for her upcoming convo this month. Coming down to see you soon! Hang in there and don't get bogged down by the stress of the lack of manpower!

Timothy is currently doing his IT course internship in KL. His superiors don't trust the interns with the programming work. "So what do you do at work?" "Play Solitaire." You get the idea. He's not jumping with joy over the work, so pray for him. Been there 2 months. 2 more months to go!

I still remember that family picnic where he did all sorts of goofy things. I think that was the moment it was placed in our hearts that we would never forget Timothy Keong.

hair and all changed d

Isn't it great how some things just don't change? =D

Wei Jin officially became a fresh grad on Saturday! He's now looking for a job in KL because the telecommunications job is not available in Malacca. He'll be fetching Daniel from the airport next week. =)

wei jin yang selamba

Yik How was also here although he was supposed to be in Malacca. Ah ha. Geng Yi said: "Seeing you two here makes me think I'm in Malacca." Yeah, it does. =)

As usual, we had to end the gathering with something out of the norm.

There was a sudden craze (by Sin Lan) to snap a photo of everybody's student card.

yik how offered his IC but was rejected cuz tak cukup umur

Then somehow Sin Lan and Sherene got infected by my disgusting eating habits and started to do something cool with the icecream sundae someone left behind (so wasteful).

added water.

Chen Li didn't come because.... SHE WAS IN MALACCA! ISH FROM ALL OF US! ...and then... *sob* =(

I didn't ask CK to come because he might be busy with work these days, and if he did want to come, I didn't want him to be feeling guilty or regretful if he couldn't make it due to fatigue. Sorry, CK! It's for your own good. T_T

Jun Yi couldn't come because he was having some friends over. He's free every other weekend though. Hurrah! He has to travel quite a distance to work, and so he has to wake up really early everyday. Pray for him.

Kevin had to bring his parents for a tour around KL because they were here for his convo on Sunday. "Aiyo... timing so bad wan..." said Kevin.

Sharonne... well... ask me personally. Ah ha.

Tse Shuen - er - ask me personally also. =P She has an exam this Thursday, and an assignment to hand in. Er actually she has a test and an assignment to hand in EVERY WEEK. Plus she has a thesis to complete. Pray for her.

You know what? Excluding Sin Yee, Wei Jin and Yik How, and including the absentees, we actually have 17 of us here in KL. We can really start a weekly Bible study in Geng Yi's house or something. =P

Malacca doesn't feel so far away with 1/3 of the Malaccan church here in KL. ^_^"

But then it must be hard on the "remnants" back home.

We're coming home this 23rd.

Kita serbu Melaka.

Wait for it!

on dmsj and cleaning.

we had cleaning last weekend at church. we kinda do this anually? maybe. i thought i don't have to clean coz i'm involve in true/false questions luckily i brought clothes along. just like ol times, i scrub the mold out from the cement floor. this time around the use the machine. the water spray is so fast the it just separate the mold from sticking. but humans' energy is still much needed. so i scrub and scrub until i decided to cabut into the dmsj contestant's room where they're revising on their 21 chapters of judges..cleaning up is kinda nice. i love scrubbing the floor.

many of the church aunties and uncles stayed back to help but didn't snap their pics. the above is a random one anyway. oh btw..GARY came all the way back for cleaning. ROFL. so sweet of him rite..*sacarsm* hahaha

as i mention, i was (sadly) chosen to be the floor members along with two kids. i'm the oldest.bah.but because i left some 10+ chapters untouched after 2 weeks trying to keep up with the contestants, i have a lot to catch up in one nite. *they told me i'm gonna have to answer some 100 Qs on Sunday.* but actually 47 nie.so i did my part by reading the brick testament. faster and i wont fall asleep reading bible stories. not to say the stories not interesting BUT my eyes have a thing for words..to many words make me drowsy.worrying if the brick testament is enough, i tried to read a lil, only a lil of the Gideon part again. but i think i did ok je lah at the small test the lims got me into.

after i cabut into the dmsj room aka library...i..nono..we, kinda distracted the dmsj kids...hahaha

Pre-CNY Makan - 23 February 2008 (Sat)

~ 4.30 pm, after Singspiration ~

Sharma speaks.

Topic: The Parable of the Unworthy Servant
Passage: Luke 17 : 7 - 10

I'll post the gist (isi penting) of what he spoke on the next time round, so as not to make this a really long post k? In the meantime, read Yen's post on the passage.

~ 6.30 pm, after Youth ~

The kids wanted to take pictures with my phone, so I had to delete the one with the audience watching the screenplay. Sorry ya. The photos for the actual event (CNY makan), I will leave the the professional photographer (me = photography noob) to put up.

By the way...

HI! MARCUS AND JEREMY!

Uncle Ivan said you guys pray for us all the time T_T Thank you so much! And so sorry for sometimes not updating the blog. We will do our best to update as often as possible. Thanks for dropping by!

visitin the old folks

alright. this is plagiarism. not so because i took it out of my own blog to paste here. *it's copy n paste here onwards*

anyways.

today is the 3rd day of CNY. we (ok lets name them - Ju , Chen Li, Jess, Mel, Sin Yee, Hwei, Shuen, Shaun, Sharma, Yik How and me) went to visit the old folks again. YAE! we did go back although not to plant flowers for them like we said we would. we gathered at the Bukit Baru Rumah Sejahtera Old Folks Home around 11 am. we brought 2 boxes of mandarin oranges and some ang paos for them. hwei is helping some friend with assignment so err... she did some reporter job. journalism course... dats y.

who would have thought old folks are so busy? but normally during the festive seasons where the dato's all over malacca came to visit. heard some Ghanni fella came to visit them on the 1st day of CNY and had lion dance for them. when we went there we were greeted by the Supervisor, Mr Chong (whom i thought was a Malay then was reluctant to call him Mr Chong).

moving on.

we didn't plan to do any performance so gathering at the hall was not necessary. before we could say that they rang the bell. ah freak. so we went in the hall, Sin Yee introduced us, and we started giving out the oranges and ang paos. there was this popo, she remembered us. WOOTS. er... it was like 2 weeks ago that we dropped by with RBS team. when i thought it would be just like what we did in during the RBS team week, it wasn't that similiar after all. after giving out the stuff we brought we wanted to get a start to talk to them lah. ahhh. those old folks remembered us. especially those tat we really talked to. felt welcome somehow. but sadly got others that came to visit, so we had to wait outside. Mr Chong was pretty ganas at halau-ing us. i didn't know just a simple visiting need to be planned in detail. i guess the time allocated and what we bring there have to be known to the Supervisor. anyways, it felt like Amazing Race. when we get out 1st chance we didn't do good and we had to start all over and get another waiting number. haha. but those old folks pretty grumpy when they had to go in n out the hall when people came visiting. i wonder if they were mad at us because were weren't very straightforward with what we doing. so it's like wasting their time in the hall. WE DIDN'T WANT THEM TO BE AT THE HALL AT THE FIRST PLACE WAD... perrrrrrrrrr.

all the other visitors were gone. we then found them at their respective houses to chit-chat with them. we barged into the ladies' houses 1st and were welcomed with open arms. it felt like normal visiting because the popos were like picking up the glasses and wiping tables... getting chairs for us and one even wanted to give us packet drinks. haha. i was reluctant to receive as there were only two. means those were for her. so none of the youth took it. she then went into her room to get asam for us. nice. we then headed to the next house where the men stayed. i didn't get the uncle's name the other time but i got it this time. it is Uncle Eric. he's the one i mentioned was from Singapore.

we left about 12pm. photos that are needed were taken. facts that needed to be jot down were hopefully jotted down. and we made some old folks happy. i think. they looked happy. overall it was alright lah.

so i was asked why i decided to visit the old folks. honestly i missed my grandma. but i did sort of promised them that i'll go back so i brought along some other kids lor. *scared to go alone mah* and just wanted to visit them and make them remember me. muhahhaha. i learn not to send my mom there ( i think most of the youth felt that way). how was i touched? just touched lah... can't explain. overall once again good experience. i noticed that the old folks dun really care whatever cacat topics we brought up, they will be happy even if we're just there for a visit. not promoting.

  1. distributing oranges
  2. that's the cute popo - Molly Lau, 87
*Note: I'm still in the process of uploading pictures so it'll take awhile for the post to really be compete. be patient! =)

Happy Chinese New Year!

Sorry for the lack of updates on this blog. Don't exactly have an excuse either ^_^" Anyway, we can't upload the video of the Christmas event just yet, because neither I nor Yen can transfer the memory from the cassette into the computer. Yen suggested taking it to the shop and asking the guy there to do it for us. So we'll see what happens next. Don't worry! It'll be up someday! (=.=) A bunch of us are going back to the Old Folks Home in Bukit Baru (the one we visited with the RBS team) to give the old folks mandarin oranges. Yen posted something about it here. It's very guilty-fying how we don't know the home's name. And it's difficult to google up, too. When we go this Saturday, we must most certainly make sure we find out the name of the home and make it known to at least all MGC-ians!

Most of what we did while the RBS team was here has been mentioned in some detail by Yen, so I'll just briefly outline all that's been going on during the RBS week:
  • 24 Jan, Thurs, 5.30pm: RBS team arrived at Melaka Sentral. Uncle Rodney,Daniel, Shaun, and I went to pick them up and sent them back to the church, after which we went out together for lunch at the Taman Asean Fish-Head Soup place (really good - try it).
  • 25 Jan, Fri, 12.30pm: Uncle Rodney, Mr Chua, Yen, Daniel, Jessica, Shaun, and I had lunch with the RBS Team at Sin Hoe Garden.
  • 25 Jan, Fri, approx. 2pm: Visit to the Old Folks Home. First time I've been to a Home. The caretaker's (if that's the right word) words rang through my head as I drove home: "When you grow up, don't bring your parents here."
  • 25 Jan, Fri, approx. 5.30pm: Tracting in Taman Sayang Selasih, and two other places, which I can't really remember, due to my buta jalanness. Sharma joined us for the tracting. Mr and Mrs Chua kindly made drinks for us after our tracting. We went for dinner at the Tengkera makan place afterwards.
  • 26 Jan, Sat, 4pm: RBS handled the Children's Hour and encountered the rascally Eric for the first time.
  • 26 Jan, Sat, 7.15pm: "Anything But Ordinary" Night. We sang songs, played a team-building game, heard testimonies, watched a skit, and listened to a short sharing by the RBS team leader. And of course we makan-ed.
  • 27 Jan, Sun, approx. 11.45am: Devotion-style Judges (for DMSJ) session with the RBS.
  • 27 Jan, Sun, 5.30pm: Football at Taman Sayang Selasih with the RBS team.
  • 28 Jan, Mon, 12pm: Mr Chua, Sharma, and I drove the RBS team to Melaka Sentral and they had lunch before going aboard (sounds wrong) the delayed Transnasional bus at 3pm.
Anyway, we're back to training the DMSJ contestants. How successful the training is... that will be revealed in time. Some of them are working really hard though, and that's a good thing.

Studying isn't everyone's favourite hobby, I guess (not saying it's mine!).

Well, the quiz's all for fellowship. But let's not shrug if off and slack because of that. Let's all work hard, work well and do our best at the quiz. Then we'll really be worthy of our trademark spirit:

Kalah tak per, janji ada gaya!

Happy Chinese New Year, everyone!

Follow-Up on Previous Posts - Wedding, Football

The Wedding

Yoke Woon and Beng Hui got emotional during the exchanging of vows. So touching ~ T_T

But I couldn't see a thing because there was this really big flower + flower pot on the piano that completely blocked my view. Well, not really completely. I could see Uncle Rodney. -_-

Beng Hui got really serious about the wedding on the wedding day itself and he even panicked a little bit, according to Tse Shuen. Yoke Woon and her dad had a lot of trouble getting out of the car and walking up the steps cuz of her big dress. It was really unique, by the way. Check out the photos Yen posted.

The Wedding March (the majestic and grand one) and the Bridal Chorus ("here comes the bride, all dressed in white" etc) were ok, I guess. I'm looking forward to Song En's wedding in July! Then I can *sharingan some techniques. Muahaha~

... Beng Hui's gonna be an Uncle Beng Hui soon!!!!!!! (I keep saying that ~hmm~)

The Football

Players:
  • Geng Yi
  • Yen Mei
  • Shaun
  • Sin Yee
  • Yik How
  • Mr Chuah (he's good. really good. puts us to shame.)
Auntie Yu Ming, Mrs Chuah, and I mainly cheered our hearts out for The Team (we actually have a team! Yeah!). Vicky @ Viki (I don't really know how to spell her name - can you tell?), the goalkeeper for the Indian team was really awesome. Her kicks were like whoaaaaaa, and her goalkeeping was like mannnnnn, and her solo-playing was like fuhhhhhh. Auntie Yu Ming said that she kept asking when the next Sports Day was because it was the "happiest day of her life".

Thanks to Geng Yi's pushing, we managed to mingle around with the neighbourhood kids. Of the Indian players, we got to know Viki and Gabriel (from SFI, very talkative). I'm not speaking for the rest when I say I don't know the other Indians. I talked a bit to Fitri, the young Malay player (very cute) who loosened up and joined our team in our attempts to capture the perfect Matrix shot. Shaun feigned doofusness and called him "Aidil Fitri" instead. The other young boy was Deben or at least has a name that sounds like that but might not look like that. He was super serious and was quite annoyed with Shaun and the other MGC players for their main-main spirit. He took several deep breaths before huffing-and-puffingly taking the penalty shot.

All I can say is... kids are just so adorable.

I didn't know that there were people who actually took football so seriously. Other than professional football players la. I mean, we can actually form a ministry for football! You don't hear about a volleyball ministry or hockey ministry anywhere.

I still don't get it. Hmm.

Anyway, for those who don't join us because you think football with kids is boring and you'll tar-pau them and that it's really much nicer to do something else on a Sunday than goof around with kids, I just wanna say that you're sorely wrong. For one, those kids aren't our typical MGC-kids footballers. They're not lousy or anything. They might not be as good as you are, but they can present at least a little challenge if they really play.

Also, actually putting aside yourself and your activities to recognize the need in this ministry isn't really that hard. When I first joined this venture, I felt a little lazy and like I was forced to go. But as the weeks go by, I feel like I'm enjoying every week more and more. And especially more when there are youths who show that they want to help. The saying, "the more the merrier" isn't a lie or a mere sentence. It's true! It's so much better when we all bear the ministry together, isn't it?

It's like me, sis and Shaun washing the dishes together instead of just one person doing it. It really makes a difference. Those who wash dishes at home would understand la.

Like Yen said: Join us!

But don't force yourself. Haha.

football in klebang

Well, we went football again last Sunday. But this time I brought my camera along.
"We Are The Champions" walk. Macam right?

Self-proclaimed Ronaldhino. Ada gaya. This shirtless boy very semangat.

Sin Yee's pretty flexible.

Fellow MGC-ians tertumpas with the power kick from the goal keeper (matrix style).

The kid decided to go nuts with us. The ball is way up... couldn't capture it.

Nice weather, great fun.

Below is a penalty kick . Watch it. Proves what i say about the boy in the 2nd pic.

apa lagi... come join us!
